Election Reform
National Popular Vote
National Popular Vote bill is a state-level bill that would guarantee the Presidency to the candidate who receives the most popular votes in the entire United States. We should push for Virginia to join with the 11 other states that have already passed it.
It would take about 10 more states (about 21 states total, depending on which states) to reach 270 Electoral College votes and therefore make the presidential elections more democratic and representative of all the people.
How it stands in Virginia
In January 14, 2009, Senator Senator Yvonne B. Miller introduced the National Popular Vote bill into the Virginia Senate for the 2009 session (SB 824).
